The Matt Palmer Trust is proud to support many great organisations and projects both in the UK and Ireland.

Here's a list of those organisations and the grant funds issued in 2017/18:

Croydon Parks – Outdoor Gyms Initiative (£372,000)
The Trust initiated a project with Croydon Council £100K contributed from existing funds raised by the Matt Palmer Trust on the condition that the council at least matched that amount. In total though the council support of this initiative exceeding expectations and raised a further £272k which is made up of public health funding, community ward budgets (donated by New Addington councillors).

The aim was to identify where new outdoor ‘active spaces’ should be located to address local health inequalities. With the ambition of creating 5 new outdoor gyms in those locations. This is in keeping with The MPT’s philosophy of promoting mental wellbeing through sport and physical exercise.

Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing: In Croydon, 1 in 6 adults, nearly 67,000 residents have a mental health issue at any one time. Common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression are projected to increase by 5% over the next 10 years, a much greater increase is projected in people with serious mental illness.
